Stage Five Pivots to an AI Telecom Platform and Full MVNO Strategy
Pursues an IPO on the back of stronger earnings and a more diversified business
Stage Five is shifting its strategy to focus on an AI-based telecom platform and becoming a Full MVNO (a mobile virtual network operator that owns its own network equipment), and it continues to grow.
According to industry sources on the 8th, Stage Five is moving beyond its existing MVNO business to become a Full MVNO. It is also speeding up its expansion around its AI-based telecom platform. Observers say the company has quickly built a base for growth since it reorganized its business and turned to a platform-focused strategy.
Business results are following. pindirect, Stage Five's digital MVNO service, keeps adding subscribers and continues to gain more customers than it loses in the mobile number portability (MNP) market. It recently won three consumer-chosen brand awards: Forbes Korea's Korea Best Brand Awards, the K-Brand Awards, and the KCAB Korea Consumer Assessment Best Brand Award. These wins show how strong its service is.
Stage Five is also going beyond a business built mainly on telecom services. It is creating new revenue streams with its AI-based telecom operations platform, which covers every part of running a telecom service. When the company applied AI agents to pindirect, the service it runs itself, it cut customer acquisition costs (CAC) and customer service (CS) costs by 10% and improved customer retention by more than 30%. This confirmed that the platform makes operations more efficient. Building on this experience, Stage Five now provides its AI telecom operations solution to other MVNOs. This creates recurring, platform-based revenue and diversifies its business portfolio.
Its financial results have also clearly improved. In 2025, Stage Five recorded revenue of KRW 111.2 billion, up 282% from the previous year. Its operating loss narrowed to about KRW 0.5 billion. Excluding KRW 1.6 billion in accounting costs from stock option grants, the company is seen as having effectively passed its annual break-even point (BEP).
For its next steps, Stage Five has chosen a phased approach that reflects the government's policy environment. It will focus on the Full MVNO model and strengthen its telecom capabilities and revenue structure step by step. A Full MVNO runs the whole telecom business on its own, including the network, platform and customer operations. The model is seen as offering higher profitability and more room to scale than a conventional MVNO.
The company is also reorganizing its financial structure ahead of the IPO. It is simplifying its capital structure, including by converting its existing redeemable convertible preferred shares (RCPS) into common shares.
In addition, some financial investors (FIs) are selling part of their stakes. This is a routine exit as a fund that invested in 2019 reaches maturity, and it reportedly reflects structural factors such as restrictions on the use of invested funds under the shareholders' agreement (SHA). Alongside this, Stage Five is reshaping its shareholder base to fit its Full MVNO transition and business expansion strategy, strengthening its financial soundness and business momentum.
A Stage Five official said, "Through advancing our AI-based telecom platform and our Full MVNO strategy, we are securing both profitability and scalability." The official added, "Based on this, we plan to keep pursuing global expansion and preparing for our IPO."
